What is SnapWill?

SnapWill is a digital will-writing platform we partner with to help Malaysian families create a proper, legally valid will — quickly, affordably, and without a single office visit. You answer simple guided questions, the platform generates your will, and you print it to sign and witness. Keith helps you pick the right package and walks you through any questions along the way.

Under the Wills Act 1959, a will is valid when it's in writing, signed by you (aged 18+, of sound mind), and witnessed by two people who aren't beneficiaries. SnapWill produces exactly that document — the same legal effect as a will drafted by a lawyer. (Muslim? A wasiat works alongside faraid and hibah — see the wasiat guide and Keith will advise.)

How It Works — 4 Simple Steps

STEP 1

Answer simple questions

Guided prompts ask about your assets, beneficiaries, executor and guardians — in plain language, no legal jargon.

STEP 2

Review your will

SnapWill generates your will instantly. Read it through, make changes, and Keith checks it with you if you'd like.

STEP 3

Sign & witness

Print it, sign it, and have two non-beneficiary witnesses sign — the step that makes it legally binding.

STEP 4

Store it safely

Keep it secure and tell your executor where it is. Updating later — new child, new property — is quick and cheap.

Digital Will vs Lawyer — The Honest Comparison

Here's the truth most people don't realise: a will written through SnapWill and a will drafted by a lawyer produce the exact same legal document. Under the Wills Act 1959, what makes a will valid is that it's in writing, signed by you, and witnessed by two non-beneficiaries. The law does not care who typed it.

Why Families Choose SnapWill

When you genuinely DO need a lawyer

SnapWill handles the vast majority of cases. But if your estate involves multiple properties, a business, overseas assets, trusts, or a blended/complex family situation, a lawyer's tailored advice is worth the cost. Keith's promise: he'll look at your situation and tell you honestly which path you need — no upselling.

Keith's Take

"In 13 years advising families across Penang, Butterworth, Bukit Mertajam and Seberang Jaya, I've seen the damage a missing will causes — frozen accounts, family disputes, years of probate. The barrier was never the law; it was the cost and hassle of lawyers. SnapWill removes that barrier. It handles 90% of cases perfectly. If yours is the complex 10%, I'll tell you upfront to see a lawyer. Most families just need the document done — fast, correct, and affordable. Don't leave it another year."

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a SnapWill digital will legally valid in Malaysia?

Yes. Under the Wills Act 1959 a will is valid if it's in writing, signed by you (18+, sound mind), and witnessed by two non-beneficiaries. SnapWill produces exactly this — the same legal effect as a lawyer-drafted will. Validity comes from correct content and signing, not from who typed it.

How much does SnapWill cost?

Three packages: Basic Digital Will RM228, Advance Digital Will RM388, and the Memories Package from RM99 — roughly 90% cheaper than the RM2,000–10,000 a lawyer typically charges.

How long does it take?

Most people finish in about 30 minutes. You answer guided questions, review your will, then print it to sign and witness — no appointments needed.

When should I use a lawyer instead?

For complex estates — multiple properties, business ownership, overseas assets, trusts, or blended families. For a typical home + savings + EPF + insurance, a digital will covers it all correctly and far more affordably. Keith will tell you honestly which you need.

What happens if I die without a will?

You die intestate. Assets are frozen and distributed under the Distribution Act 1958 — maybe not as you'd want. Probate can take 2–5 years and cost RM50k–200k while your family waits without access to funds.
